Some reports are left to gather dust on a shelf but this one cannot be. Breaking the Silence, based on findings from a peer-reviewed research paper, presents some of the most appalling facts ever to come out about the conditions for many people working within the field of surgery in the UK.

Our research, which surveyed more than 1,400 staff working in surgery, found that nearly 30 per cent of women (and nearly 7 per cent of men) were sexually assaulted by colleagues, and there were even instances of rape. This situation represents a MeToo moment for surgery.
